THE DETAILS
Before you say “I’ll collect it”
For single items, the make-or-break details often live with the seller, not the buyer.
Get the measurements
Ask the seller for dimensions, whether legs or sections detach, and whether the item is particularly heavy, delicate or fragile. For wardrobes and large sofas, check both the collection and delivery doorways.
Confirm collection arrangements
Who will be present? Is there a set pickup window? Can the vehicle park nearby? Is the item on an upper floor or in a rear outbuilding? We need those answers before planning labour and timings.
Protection and handling
Tell us about glass, mirrors, polished surfaces and upholstery that needs extra care. We can discuss suitable protection and whether any dismantling would be required as part of the job.
One item versus a dedicated journey
Even for one item, the quotation reflects the vehicle, travel, time and people needed. Describe the full route, including loading access, to avoid assuming that a short distance automatically means a tiny job.
